The Bald Eagle

The bald Eagle is North American bird of prey. It is our national bird and a symbol of the United States. The bald eagle has played a prominent role in our nation´s history. The founding fathers liked to compare the new republic to that of Rome, in which images of eagle were often used. They chose to include the bald eagle in the design for the Great seal of the United States, it appears on most of the Great Seal of the United States, and it appears on most of the government´s official seals and on several coins. In those images, its head is usually turned toward an olive branch held in the right claw, symbolizing peace. The left claw clasps several arrows, symbolizing war.
